Why Choose Dr. Paul Rose for Your Hair Transplant?

Few physicians practicing hair restoration today have had the opportunity not only to witness the evolution of modern hair transplantation, but to help shape it.

Dr. Paul T. Rose is a board-certified dermatologist, hair restoration surgeon, researcher, author and educator whose career spans more than three decades of advancement in the field. He was among a group of pioneering physicians involved in developing and refining concepts and techniques that helped move hair transplantation toward the natural, follicular-unit-based procedures performed today.

A Surgeon Who Helped Shape the Field

Dr. Rose was among the physicians who helped advance follicular unit transplantation and modern approaches to natural hairline design. He has served as President of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery and has lectured and taught hair restoration techniques internationally.

Experience Applied to You

No two patterns of hair loss are the same. Dr. Rose evaluates your existing hair, donor supply, degree of hair loss, and long-term goals before recommending FUE, FUT, or another approach. Patients consult directly with Dr. Rose, so the treatment plan begins with the surgeon responsible for their hair restoration.

How Dr. Rose Approaches Natural Hair Restoration

Dr. Rose’s philosophy is straightforward: work with nature, not against it. Every hairline should be designed around the individual, taking into account how the hair naturally grows, the shape of the face, the existing hair and the available donor supply.
Natural hairlines are not perfectly uniform, and that is part of what makes them look real. Small variations in direction, spacing and asymmetry can make the difference between a result that looks transplanted and one that simply looks like your own hair.
The aim is to create a hairline that feels right for your face today and continues to look natural over time.

"A successful hair transplant should not look like a hair transplant at all."

FUE or FUT — Which Is Right for You?

Surgical

FUT Hair Transplant

A major advantage of FUT is the surgeon’s ability to move a very large number of grafts without the risk of overharvesting the donor area — remaining fully discreet since the donor area is never shaved down.

Surgical

FUE Hair Transplant

FUE leaves no linear scar, allowing a faster recovery and a more closely shaved hairstyle. It also allows harvesting from non- scalp regions such as the beard and body.

Not sure which is right for you? That’s what the consultation is for.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a hair transplant cost?
FUT is $5 per graft and FUE at $7 per graft. Most patients require around 1,500–2,000 grafts, putting a typical FUT procedure around $7,500–$10,000 and FUE around $10,500–$14,000. Your exact cost will depend on your hair loss, donor supply and treatment plan.
The best way to know is through an evaluation with Dr. Rose. In general, you may be a good candidate if you have noticeable hair loss, enough healthy donor hair on the back or sides of your scalp, and realistic expectations about what a transplant can achieve. Dr. Rose will examine your hair loss pattern, donor area and goals and tell you whether a hair transplant is the right option for you.
It depends on the size of the area being treated, the amount of existing hair, your donor supply and the density you want to achieve. Patients usually need around 1,500–2,000 grafts per session, but the number can be lower or higher depending on the individual.
Most patients can return to desk work within about 2–3 days, although redness, scabbing and visible healing can last longer. Strenuous exercise is usually avoided for around two weeks. New hair growth generally starts around 3–4 months, with fuller results developing over the following year.
Both methods transplant your own follicular units; the main difference is how the donor hair is removed. With FUE, individual follicular units are removed one at a time using small punches, leaving many tiny scattered scars. With FUT, a thin strip of donor tissue is removed and divided into individual grafts, leaving a linear scar that is usually hidden by surrounding hair. The right choice depends on your donor area, hairstyle, number of grafts needed and long-term plan.
