Hair loss is not a single condition, and an effective treatment plan must begin with an accurate diagnosis. At Golden State Hair Transplant, we evaluate and treat a wide range of hair-loss and scalp disorders, including inherited hair loss, excessive shedding, autoimmune disease, inflammatory conditions and complex scarring alopecia’s. Led by Dr. Paul T. Rose, a board-certified dermatologist and internationally recognized hair-restoration surgeon, our team approaches hair loss from both a medical and surgical perspective.
Hair-loss conditions can appear remarkably similar while requiring very different treatments. Our diagnostic process includes a detailed medical history, scalp and hair examination, trichoscopy, hair-pull testing, laboratory investigations and scalp biopsy when necessary. At Golden State Hair Transplant, our objective is not simply to treat visible thinning. It is to understand the condition responsible for it and help each patient make an informed, medically appropriate decision about preserving and restoring their hair.
Depending on the diagnosis, treatment may include prescription medications, compounded pharmaceuticals, targeted topical therapies, hormonal management, and in-office procedures such as microneedling. Microneedling may also be combined with carefully selected biologic or regenerative agents to support scalp and follicular health.
Pattern and Hormonal Hair Loss, Androgenetic alopecia, commonly known as male or female pattern hair loss is the most frequent cause of progressive thinning. We also evaluate hair loss associated with menopause, hormonal changes, thyroid disease, polycystic ovary syndrome and gender-affirming hormone therapy. Treatment is individualized and may include prescription or topical medications, regenerative therapies and ongoing monitoring to preserve existing hair.
Excessive Shedding and Diffuse Thinning, Sudden or widespread shedding may be caused by telogen effluvium, illness, surgery, emotional or physical stress, rapid weight loss, nutritional deficiencies, childbirth or certain medications. This includes shedding that may occur during substantial weight loss associated with GLP-1 medications. Identifying and addressing the underlying trigger is an important part of treatment. When appropriate, laboratory testing or coordination with another medical specialist may be recommended.
Autoimmune Hair Loss, We evaluate and treat autoimmune forms of hair loss, including:
Scarring Alopecia’s, Cicatricial, alopecia’s are inflammatory disorders that can permanently damage hair follicles. Early diagnosis and medical management are particularly important because hair cannot regrow once follicles have been completely replaced by scar tissue. We treat and manage the following conditions:
Traction, Breakage and Hair-Shaft Disorders, Hair loss may also result from repeated tension, chemical processing, heat styling or physical damage. We assess traction alopecia, frictional hair loss, trichotillomania, hair-shaft fragility and breakage caused by styling practices. When recognized early, changes in hair care combined with appropriate medical treatment may prevent further damage and allow affected follicles to recover.
Eyebrow, Eyelash and Beard Hair Loss, Hair-loss disorders are not limited to the scalp. We also evaluate thinning or loss involving the eyebrows, eyelashes, beard and sideburns. These changes may be related to autoimmune disease, hormonal factors, scarring conditions, trauma, overplucking or hereditary characteristics.
